The venerable Denon DP3000 professional turntable, configured with a Classic Sound plinth made from layered Baltic Birch and finished with a Walnut veneer

The DP-3000 was available as a standalone motor unit combined with an excellent 10″ Denon DA 309 toneam and a Grado Reference Platinum cartridge.

DA-309 Tonearm

A dynamic damping mechanism has been adopted to reduce the influence of natural and external vibration of each part of the arm.
In this system, the tone arm pipe and body part are divided, and the arm moves freely in the vertical and horizontal directions, and it is connected with a  coupler that suppresses the motion of the tone arm pipe in the axial direction and rotational direction. The fulcrum side of the pipe is braked by an appropriate viscoelastic material.
With this structure, the vibration coming from the arm base is damped and the natural vibration of each part of the arm is greatly reduced. When the arm base is vibrated by a vibrator and measured, an improvement effect of up to 15 dB compared with a tone arm without a damping mechanism is realized.

In this system, a tapered magnetic plate is wound around a rotating drum, and a magnet is used. When the magnet is brought close to the rotating drum, a rotational force is generated that attracts the magnetic plate from the narrow side to the wider side within the winding range angle of the magnetic plate. This rotational torque is used to cancel the inside force.
The DA 309 adjusts the rotational torque for each needle pressure by changing the distance between the rotary drum and the magnet. Since this method is non-contact structure, the performance of the tone arm is not impaired. Moreover, since it can follow the change of inside force due to the position of the needle tip of the cartridge on the record, the appropriate outside force can always be obtained.
In addition, the cancellation mechanism can be turned off with one touch, making it convenient for 0 balance adjustment.

Resonance is damped by combining a magnesium alloy that is lightweight and highly rigid with a special viscoelastic body that has a large internal loss.

Most cartridges can be mounted by using the attached sub-weight.

The lever of the arm lifter is provided on the front side in consideration of operability.
